The flag made using British Ministry of Defence approved fabric UK/SC/4767. Manufactured in UK by one of the oldest local factories, 155 g/sqm MOD approved woven flag material is by far the most durable flag fabric on the market. Apart from its outstanding durability, MoD approved woven fabric has a pleasant natural feel and non-shiny wool like appearance. The MoD approved flag fabric is treated for UV resistance and would fade much slower than natural fibres or non UV treated artificial flag fabrics. Separate pre-cut Union Jack panels are sewn together using UK 'COATS' manufactured bonded nylon thread. The latter has superior abrasion resistance compared to generic cotton or core spun threads.

The fly and outer corners are additionally reinforced using multiple seams to keep the flag longer from premature fraying.

The 5x3 feet size is currently recommended by UK's Flag Institute for use on land.

Union Jack flag is fitted with metal eyelets which are made from high quality rust free brass.

It is hard giving exact estimate on how long the fully sewn MoD approved Union Jack should last. The general rule however is the properly sewn flag should outlast the inherent colour fading appearing due to natural UV radiation and air pollution. Please note a flag left flying in heavy storm for a longer time would obviously last less than expected.
