A stunning painting by Surrey based artist Barbara Shaw, (b. 1932).

It is painting using watercolour with pastel and oil and also has some collaged sections, so best described as mixed media.

Depicts peacock feathers in a vase against an abstract geometric background.

Signed and dated lower right  'Barbara Shaw 1996'.  It also has a label verso giving details about the artist from the Gomshall Gallery, Surrey.

In excellent condition and very well presented with a double card mount within a gilt wood frame that has a grey wash.  Glazed and ready to hang.

Measures 68 x 57cm including the frame, the painting only is 44 x 34cm.

Barbara Shaw was born in Bristol. She married and had children and in the 1950s the family moved to the USA where Barbara took up watercolour painting under the tuition of US artist Caroline Garawecki.  On returning to England she has continued to paint and is a member of the Guildford, Farnham and Alton art societies.  She has exhibited extensively in Surrey and Hampshire.
