BEATLES UK – Revolver, rare ridged labels, original UK mono.

PMC 7009 - original 1966 mono yellow and black Parlophone labels.

An original UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. it is believed that these very hard to find records with ‘ridged’ labels were a result of EMI re employing an old pressing machine to try and keep up with the demand for producing the latest Beatle album, back in 1966. The ridges themselves are curious, as the ridge on side one is more ‘shallow’, but the ridge on side two is more ‘pronounced’,

2. the records matrix and ‘mother/stampers’ are all regular EMI,

3. the record label on side one has an additional ‘dot’, as it reads ‘Sold in .U.K.,’ etc, the record label on side two does not have this additional ‘dot !’,

4. the record comes with its original period, 1960s black and white EMI advertising sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. This laminate is relatively free from any ‘scuffing’ or any ‘indentations’. The laminate is relatively free from the usual thumb creases as there is just one small thumb laminate crease. The spine is in near excellent condition and has remained clean and white in colour and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the 1960s period style ‘tri flipback’ design. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a small area of laminate ‘lift’ to the front, top, left of the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original, period EMI black and white advertising sleeve. An excellent clean, white fresh sleeve for its age, made from the period, thick quality paper. The two opening edges have remained clean and unworn. There are NO tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue to the sleeve. There is a slight split to one of the side edges.

THE RECORD: is in very good++ condition. It is made from the period 1960s ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl.

The matrix are: XEX 605 - 2 and XEX 606 – 2,

The mother / stampers are: ‘ 4 M O ’ and ‘ 1 A ’.

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent with some light ‘ticks’ to be heard here and there, it plays with relatively quiet grooves. Side two plays excellent+ with nice quiet grooves. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in excellent condition, there is a name written in black pen within the black area, but this doe not notice too much. Side two is in near excellent condition. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any ‘other’ pen writing, and free from any stickers or sticker residue.

BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
