VINTAGE BUBBLE GUM PINK DOUBLE-LAYER NYLON BABYDOLL NIGHTGOWN/NIGHTIE by AVIAN M

A chiffon over tricot nightie, in bubble-gum pink with white lace – you had to be a certain age to wear one of these. Mid-1960s, so we can safely say that said person would have been female and in her teens. Turning twenty, tops. And, if said person had a kid sister, then she would long for the day when she too was old enough to wear one of her own. Meanwhile, if sister is out again tonight with her boyfriend, in his dad’s T-bird, she won’t mind if . . . but, in the mid-1960s, it would have been less likely that her brother might be showing an interest. Fifty years later and, who knows, this might be the chance to take care of that outstanding job at last. After all, big sister retired to Florida (or Mallorca) fifteen years ago and, statistically, it’s unlikely she would still be a Medium. On the other hand, anyone who has kept reasonably in shape might now be in a perfect position to reap this reward. Ideal for a 36” bust, fine also for a 34 or 38. A chiffon-backed white lace yoke, with a pair of pink appliqué motifs of a vaguely floral nature. From the shoulders down to the two inches of lace around the chiffon outer layer: 30½ inches – and same again to the pretty, filigree scalloped hem stitching of the bubble gum pink tricot beneath. Difficult to imagine, sometimes, how the elderly lady, asking at Goodwill about the senior discount on Wednesdays, could easily have been the delicious creature frolicking about in a nightie such as this. Possibly equally difficult for her to remember such times . . . like she might want to?

Our vintage clothing and nightwear comes to you specially selected from the most respected American manufacturers. Regrettably, we are no longer allowed to tell you who they are (even though most of them ceased trading long ago), while our lords and masters can tell you all about half a dozen mobile phone companies . . . that they don’t sell. Such is life. Unless stated as New with or without tags (NWT or NWOT), all are sold as being in excellent used condition: free of damage, holes, tears and stains, except where specifically stated otherwise. And while we're at it, how about answering the question, in case any of you are wondering why we let our TRS + seller status slip recently. It is most regrettable that we vintage clothing sellers are being near-forced into offering 30 day returns. We don't feel it's fair for eBay sellers or our buyers. Would you want to buy something on eBay another user has recently possessed for the last month, other than the seller representing the item? We don't know if it's been exposed to pet allergens, smoke... or even worn for a special occasion. Particularly, in the lingerie market, we just don't think enough thought went into the decision to implement that plan. As a result, we're now having to pay 20% more on seller fees and are losing our badge. Two weeks is more than enough time for buyers to decide whether they want that item or not. As many people are talking in the forums, we feel it will some day lead to even longer return possibilities. A year? Enough is enough.
