THE KATHARINA COFFEE
Katharina – A simple upper pattern winter snow boot made from two pieces of wool felt, making it our signature style. Stylish, trend-oriented, casual and uncomplicated. Made of 100% robust, hard-wearing and highly insulating, extremely breathable natural german wool felt, elaborately handmade and featuring a natural rubber sole with a incorporated hemp fabric, the boot combines pleasant wear and casual style.
ZDAR Snow and Winter boots are crafted to endure, we use Sheepskin Wool felt, Calfskin and Cow leather. The single layer of Felt is unique as our boots do not require any lining or reinforcement layer in the upper, neither do we use chemical reinforcements in the toe or heel like conventional shoes. However, to create a shoe, lasting season after season, we thought it best to use PU glues for a perfect bonding of the outsoles.
Zdar – Wool felt
Wool is composed of the same protein that makes up the outer protective layer of your skin and wool works in total harmony with your body’s own protection mechanisms – Wool is the oldest man made material, and has been used for thousands of years. Wool insulates against heat and cold, and is resilient to dirt, and repels liquid. All ZDAR Snow Boot are 100% Sheep wool the Felts are highly compressed and the tightly interlocked fiber structure making Zdar Winter Boots virtually waterproof.
Zdar-Insole
To ensure the comfort of out shoes we are use a foot bed made from PU.
PU is the longest lasting of all foam materials and it will not loose its cushioning properties even after years of daily use.
ZDAR – Outsole
At Zdar Boot has a rugged outside with high natural rubber component. A multidirectional outsole profile ensures good traction in virtually all conditions. The Hemp fabric inlay results in fibers that are visible within the rubber sole ensuring superior traction on ice.

For centuries, handmade felt shoes, the so-called Valenki, covered the elite feet of the Russian empire. Felt boots were very expensive in the 19th century, and the average family could afford only one pair, so they often had to be worn in shifts. In a museum in Moscow, a nostalgic photo of soldiers in felt boots at the front exploits the legend that Valenki boots helped Russians prevail in the Napoleonic wars. Felt Boots are even said to have healing affect against flu and rheumatic disease.
The ZDAR boot is a contemporary reinterpretation of this classic Russian boot. It combines the unique natural attributes of wool with modern comfort. The quality of the raw material is of crucial importance. Therefore we are only utilizing top quality wool felt Made in Germany. Our felts are highly compressed and elaborately processed to the highest quality and environmental standards. Our felt is made on traditional machines and is naturally made of 100% lambswool. The unique attributes of wool combine breathability with water resistance, thus keeping your feet worm even in lowest temperatures. The softly cushioned foot-bed is covered in natural leather and provides superior comfort. The rugged outer sole is reinforced with a layer of hemp fabric, which at the same time adds to the grip of the outsole.
