Vintage Ludwig Super Classic Blue Sparkle Drum Kit - Mid-Late 1960's/1967
Here's a truly lovely set of vintage drums looking for their forever home! With no extra holes and just a few scuffs and scratches, this is a clean and tidy kit that sounds fantastic. The floor tom is stamped June 9th 1967, and we think the rack tom and bass drum to likely be from around the 1965-67 period. For their age these drums are in amazing condition, with plenty of life left in them. There's a just a couple of cosmetic issues as mentioned in the descriptions below.
Bass drum 22" x 14" Serial Number 119949: There's a few scratches to the wrap but nothing nasty. The chrome on the lugs is in great shape, but a few of the tension rods and claws have some corrosion. This drum has a nickel rail mount which is not original, however it is an original Ludwig part and there's no extra holes in the shell. The white painted interior has some fading and a little bit of ply lift in a couple of places. The lapping is sound, the drum is round and tunes up easily. There is a little lift to the wrap externally on the seam. The hoops have been repainted.The inlay on the batter hoop is a collection of pieces rather than one length. Although pieced together very well it is a period match.
Tom tom 13" x 9" Serial Number 44468: This drum is very clean inside and out. The chrome is in fantastic condition and there's hardly a mark on it. The receiver box is original and in full working order.The dampener is a replacement Canopus baseball bat style, matching the look of the original. All in all this is super clean and sounds lovely.
Floor tom 16" x 16" Serial Number 511557: This is also super-clean, with original baseball bat dampener and white painted interior. Clear date stamp, Jun 9 1967. Original floor tom legs, the chrome is in great condition and the drum sounds as good as it looks.
