I have fully serviced this S2 Improved. The Pillar Bearings have been stripped, cleaned and lubricated. The Damper Assembly has been stripped, cleaned and refilled with genuine SME Damper Fluid in line with the SME service sheet. The Metal Knife Edge Bearing and seating groove, have been cleaned and exhibit no wear.

I have internally re-wired the tonearm using Teflon Coated Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) Wire and tested the continuity end to end. including the Headshell Cartridge Tags. Whilst carrying out the re-wire I tested the all important Bayonet Plunger Contact Pins for correct functionality and made sure that there are no sticking or bent pins - the assembly is in perfect working order.

The Cueing mechanism works perfectly, being fully damped and lowering the arm very slowly and smoothly. The Cueing Lever is the later FD200 Fluid Damper style, so this 3009 is partially FD200 ready.

Cosmetically is excellent - there are some marks, towards the underside on the Armtube made by the Armrest Catch (photo 12) and there are some swirl type scratches on the rear of the Baseplate (photo 8). Overall the metal castings are all beautifully bright and fresh. The Armtube anodising is satin finish.
