Porsche 911 964 Carrera in 925 Sterling Silver
On offer here is an ultra rare vintage 1:43 scale model of a 964 Carrera in solid 925 Sterling Silver made by Fritz Reu GmbH in Germany for the Porsche factory, complete with 925 REU hallmark and Ferry Porsche signature on the underneath and mounted on an acrylic plinth.
This superb model is crafted from solid Sterling silver and weighs around 180 grammes.
I am not 100% sure of the exact history of these models but from what I can gather from the very limited amount of information I found on the internet, they were given to factory engineers and Porsche employees for things such as long service etc.
I have owned it I would say at a guess for at least 15 years, possibly more, it came to me via a Porsche dealership, but that is basically all I can remember as to how I came about it.
If you look at the images the only couple of faults you will see are the outer hinges and clasp of the box have a bit of surface rust on them ( perhaps they should have made these from sterling silver also !! ) and the white box itself is showing signs of being well over 20 years old, nothing major but I just wanted to mention it.
Also the left hand door looks like it has been "polished" or something before I got it as it is slightly brighter than the rest of the model, almost as if the lacquer coating has been rubbed off, but I feel this does not detract from the antique silver look of the model.
