Alexander the Great Lifetime Issue silver Tetradrachm.
Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin.
Reverse: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ: Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his outstretched right hand and long sceptre in his left; below throne,
M; to left BAI ligate in monogram. Struck under Menes or Philotas.

Weight: 17.04 grams. Diameter 28 mms.
Myriandros mint: Struck under Menes or Philotas, circa 325-324 BC.

Nice portrait and good silver, struck slightly off-centre.


Myriandros was an ancient Phoenician town and seaport located near the modern city of İskenderun, Turkey. In 333 BC Alexander the Great intended ambush the Persian king Darius III at Myriandros but in the end the battle took place near Issus.
