This medal was authorized by Congress in 1981 and struck by the U.S. Mint to Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the American Red Cross.     

Struck in bronze, it is 1 1/2" (38 mm) in diameter.  It comes sealed in the original U.S. Mint plastic.
