Published hardbound Philadelphia 1842. Text contains various articles on subjects of the day, extensively illustrated through out with hand tinted color fashion plates, steel engravings, sewing patterns, music, etc.

Three quarter red-brown leather binding, 4 raised spine hubs on spine with bright gold gilt. Heavy shelf wear to corners and light cracking to hinge near top, though binding is still tight, no loose pages. Previous owner inscriptions front paste down. Interior pages are lightly foxed and age toned, hand colored images bright. 3 interior pages torn but repaired neatly with no missing material. Would make a lovely gift for anyone with interests in historical fashion or women's history of the American Civil War era.
