This vintage 1960's Jubilee Skin Diver is a great watch with lots of character. The silver satin dial, which is in decent condition showing wear, looks much better in person than under high magnification. The original lume on the dial and hands, which is missing/cracked in some areas, matches perfectly and emits a faint, quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel rotates smoothly bidirectionally and looks great on the wrist. The all stainless steel case is in wonderful condition, showing minor wear. The case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL JUBILEE SKIN DIVER." The inside of the case back is stamped "JUBILEE CORP." followed by "BRITISH CROWN COLONY,""HONG KONG,""STAINLESS STEEL" and "F 511." The crystal is in great condition.
The 17 jewels "JUBILEE WATCH CO" stamped 29C UT manual wind movement with quickset date function is pristine, keeps accurate time and the date rolls over automatically as it should at approximately 12 am. The quickset date function works by moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded crown 25 full revolutions the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Considering that this watch is approximately 45 years old with an unknown service history (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or movement but the dial shows wear), a complete overhaul is
suggested.
This watch measures approximately 37 mm without the crown,
approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm
between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the
case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the
crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. This watch comes on a black and gray nato strap in excellent condition.
As mentioned above, although this watch works as it should, given its vintage vintage nature and unknown service history there are no
warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means
better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to
time. A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watching running strong. Any servicing costs
going forward are your responsibility.
