This wonderful, rare quality tall netsuke came from a Paris estate - Meiji [period, circa 1870.

A finely detailed depiction of a Monkey trainer with a tall hat, with a carved monkey hanging on him.

Carved of wood with black and brown lacquer - the body is inlayed with mother-of-pearl - the monkey is carved and expertly applied with a coral bead inlayed on its straw hat.

It is artist-signed on a red-lacquer plaque, inlayed on his back.

Superb quality work by a gifted artist - wonderful facial features and fine detailing all around.

Excellent, original condition with no losses or restorations - please view all detailed pictures.

It measures 9.4 cm tall x 3 cm wide x 2 cm deep.
