Most coop openers
give you only one or two options; timer or light level operation.
HenSafe gives you three to choose from and you can mix and match any of them
mornings and evenings:
1. TIMER: set an opening
time and a closing time using the easy Menu and digital display.
2. LIGHT (LUX) OPERATION:
with one push of a button you can set and store the ambient light level for
opening and again for closing, plus an optional time delay of up to 90 minutes
for closing to cater for stragglers who are late to roost.
3. BOTH - our third, UNIQUE feature:
A combination of LIGHT with a TIME backstop:
BOTH settings are met before your door
operates
This setting stops your chickens getting locked out at night and prevents your
door opening too early in summer.
Evening Closing on Both:
You calibrate your closing light level and an earliest closing time. Provided
it is darker than the light level you have calibrated, AND it is after the
closing time you have set, then the door will shut. Your door will not close
unless it is dark enough (to your calibrated light level) and the close time
has been reached - i.e. both parameters have been met. Useful to prevent
your door from closing early when the sky turns black as a thunder cloud comes
across the sky at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
Morning Opening on Both:
Calibrate your opening light level and an earliest opening time. Provided it is
lighter than the light level you have calibrated, AND it is after the opening
time you have set, then your door will open. Useful in preventing your door
from opening early when a neighbouring streetlight or floodlight comes on in
the early hours or when there is overnight snow or frost on the ground in the
morning which has increased the ambient light level.
...and a word about our Light Level
Calibration:
HenSafe stores two light levels - your morning open level and your evening
close level. They are two different levels which means even more flexibility.
You can recalibrate at any time.
HenSafe's Manual
Button adds another dimension. For example if you are going out for the
evening and need to shut your hens in a little earlier than normal. Also useful
if you need to do things inside the chicken coop and you don't want your birds
in the way, such as when you're cleaning out. This button means you can use the
unit with Ducks and other birds which don't put themselves to bed: Put them in
their house, push the Manual Button to shut them in and your door will open
automatically in the morning at whatever time or light level you have set. Peace
of mind...
