Ollech and Wajs produced two versions of the Early Bird.  The earlier version has a Glycine style bezel with the following bezel characteristics: sharp notches, colors split evenly between the 18 and 6, narrowing hash marks and fat font numbers.  The later version has a bezel with the following characteristics: rounded notches, colors split evenly between the 12 and 24, straight hash marks and thin font numbers.  There are some other defining characteristics for the earlier versions as well, such as movements stamped OLLECH+WAYS (not WAJS) and lower recorded serial numbers.  I've only collected the earliest versions of the Early Bird and I currently have two others with the exact same bezel and serial numbers in the 336xxx and 337xxx range.  This particular O&W has a serial number of 333377.

The glossy black "Swiss" signed dial looks good and the original tritium on the dial and hands, which is fully intact and emits a faint, short lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a beautiful golden buttermilk patina.  The bezel, which rotates bidirectionally, has developed a colorful azure and strawberry hue.  The heavy, all stainless steel case is in excellent condition, free of any significant dents or dings and free of any visible signs of oxidation.  The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF  ANTIMAGNETIC  INCABLOC  STAINLESS STEEL  SWISS MADE" with an engraved diver followed by "20 ATM TESTED,""2834" and "333377" stamped in the center.  This is the earliest Early Bird I've ever seen.  The crystal has some light scratching.  Over the years some dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring, settling on the underbelly of the crystal and to a lesser degree the dial.

This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm.  Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10 mm.

The 17 jewels "OLLECH+WAYS" stamped FHF 72 manual wind movement is in near pristine condition and keeps accurate time.  After recently winding the sharply threaded crown 25 full revolutions the watch had a solid power reserve of approximately 37 hours.  The crown winds buttery smooth.  Although this watch currently runs as it should, considering that it is over 45 years old it and since its lone service appears to have been done decades ago (there is one watchmaker service etching on the inside of the case back), a complete overhaul is suggested.

As mentioned above, this is a vintage watch that hasn't been serviced in decades.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watching running strong.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
