My wife bought an un-backed area rug to put on our newly installed wood floor, on my side of the bed. Beautiful rug, but it was like trying to dance on wet ice every time I stepped on it. This pad makes that rug stay in place, and didn't add to the loft of an already thick rug. Easily cut to size with scissors, too. We have plenty left over for the next rug we buy.
