DETAILS OF ITEM

This is a 6 sun mid century Japanese secret trick puzzle box called himitsu karakuri bako that measures a large 7.13 inches long by 5 inches wide by 3.5 inches high.  It requires 54 steps to complete in the proper sequence to open the box.  The cover features a Zougan landscape design complete with sailboats on Lake Ashino, a country house, a pine tree and Mt. Fuji in the background. The back of the box features a blooming Camelia flower with a flying butterfly that is ready to land.

Marked Made in Japan though somewhat worn, this piece originated in the Hakone region of Japan sometime in the 1960's.  There is some wear to the lacquer just right of the pine tree; otherwise, the rest of the condition is very good and the movements are smooth not loose.  Solution would be provided on request.
