This dress outfit is very evocative of the simple elegance of the Art Deco style of the 1920's.  Wear with some delicate curved heeled shoes to complete the look!  Or you can even maximize the possibilities by wearing the pieces separately--the top with black palazzo pants, or the skirt with a colorful spring sweater!  Purchased at a Chanel boutique in New York City in 1993.

By CHANEL Boutique, ladies size FR 42 or about a US 10 or US 12, made in France. This piece was part of their 93P collection (Spring season of 1993).  Fabric is a beautifully draping crepe of 60% acetate/40% viscose with a satin underside.  Creamy white with black silk ribbon accents.  White rounded bakelite-looking buttons with shiny "CC" logos.  The top is tunic length, sleeveless, deep v-neckline with rounded collar, black satin bands at the button panel, inner black ribbon at the neckline that gives a nice border neckline accent when worn.  Box pleats at the lower back.  The skirt features sewn-down pleats with a wide yoke waistband and two back waist logo buttons and snap closures.

Measurements:

Tunic: 19 1/2 inches across at underarms, about 20 1/4 inches across at the waist area, and about 29 inches total length from the back center collar base to the bottom hem edge.
Skirt: 15 1/2 inches across at the top of the waistband, 21 inches across at the widest hip, and 33 1/2 inches total length.

The tunic has some light spots at the front, right collar tip, and left back shoulder.  Some discoloration/yellowing at the inner collar band and under the arms.  The skirt has a vertical band of faint yellowing (covered by the tunic when worn together).  It was sent to the cleaners upon its last wearing in 2004 and hung in a climate controlled cedar closet.  Since the fabric is white, I would think a competent dry cleaner could treat the areas needed with some success.  My home is smoke free.
