Taking Glutathione – whether orally, topically or intravenously – helps boost the body’s capacity to create Glutathione. Ideally, supplemental Glutathione will be absorbed by the blood stream and taken to the liver, which will then create natural Glutatione and export that to other cells. This increase in glutathione lightens skin because glutathione is made up of three amino acids: cysteine, Glutamine, and glycine. Cysteine is the main component and abundant levels of cysteine in the body has been shown to lower overall melanin production in the body by inhibiting tyrosinase (an enzyme that stimulates melanin production) and changing the metabolic pathway of melanin from synthesizing dark pigmented melanin (eumelanin) to creating light-pigmented melanin (phaeomelanin). KOJIC ACID - Besides freckles and melasma there are many types of pigmentation problems that may be treated with kojic acid, because it stops the production of pigment. Kojic acid attacks the root of the pigmentation source by inhibiting the production of melanin. More specifically, kojic acid counters the antioxidant properties of the enzyme tyrosinase, which reacts with an amino acid called tyrosine to produce melanin. By stopping the production of melanin, kojic acid can reverse excessive darkening of the skin. However, you don’t have to have a skin problem for kojic acid to work. It will work on healthy skin and reduce the production of melanin, giving your skin an overall lighter appearance wherever you use the topical treatment. The skin becomes whiter and more youthful after the use of this products.
