Mountain Equipment Recyclers, Inc. is a retail store selling new and used high-quality outdoor equipment located in Colorado Springs, CO. Gear includes camping, backpacking, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, cycling, running, climbing, fly fishing, canoes/kayaks, and any other outdoor activity associated with this beautiful state.
Mountain Equipment Recyclers, Inc. has multiple goals. We strive to offer high-quality gear at discounted prices; give back to great local non-profit organizations; preserve the environment; and contribute to ‘buy local’ ideas.
The recent recession has affected everyone and changed the perspective of many consumers. Most of the items we purchase are manufactured overseas, using cheap labor, only to be shipped from thousands of miles away. The gear is then trucked to a local corporate-owned retailer who charges high prices. This process is damaging to the environment AND our wallets! Now that the gear is purchased, why not sell it in a local manner, from neighbor to neighbor? It can be passed forward, after our great experiences, for others to enjoy.
Mountain Equipment Recyclers, Inc. is committed to helping the community through local charities. 50% of the sale of donated gear is given directly to non-profit organizations. 5% of consigned payments is given to our non-profit partner of the month.
