Antique Pair of Chinese famille verte armorial saucer dishes, c. 1717, Kangxi
(1662-1722), decorated in the centre with the arms of Fenwick (per fess
gules and argent six martlets counterchanged a mullet for difference)
within a band of stylized flames and floral cartouches, the cavetto with
the crest (a phoenix in flames proper) and a garland of stylized
foliage

condition: minute hairline to rim
of one dish.
Fenwick of Northumberland were a merchant family from
Newcastle-upon-Tyne with their family seat in Brenkley and Morpeth. The
service was probably made for Mr. Fenwick, Chief Supercargo on the East
Indiaman 'Marlborough' at Canton 1716. For further details and to see an
