This 1960's uber rare, heavy duty deep sea Le Phare "Geneve" dive watch is stunning.  The original glossy black, gilt dial is in good condition, with the dial patina having aged to a beautiful golden brown hue.  The original hour and minute hands have aged to a slightly lighter shade of patina than the dial, which provides for a wonderful contrast, with the original military inspired second's hand matching the dial patina perfectly.  The tritium on both the dial and hands emit a faint, short lived glow after being exposed to direct sunlight and/or bright light, as they should.

The baby Panerai all stainless steel case, which appears to be unpolished, is in exceptional condition, free of any significant gouges, dents or dings and exhibiting only light wear.  There are no signs of pitting or oxidation anywhere.  The large, approximate 4.5 mm original non-screw down crown is in wonderful condition with sharp threading and free of any signs of impact.  The bidirectional bezel rotates smoothly and the original enamel paint remains intact and vibrant. The outer edge of the heavy duty case back, the thickest I've encountered, is engraved "TESTED 1000 METERS" followed by "AUTOMATIC WATERPROOF INCABLOC ANTIMAGNETIC STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE" with "692505" just below the depth engraving.  The inside of the case back is stamped "MOD DEPOSE LE PHARE WATCH Co Swiss."  The original superdome plexi crystal is free of any chipping or significant scratching/gouging.

The double caged, 17 jewels unadjusted "LE PHARE WATCH CO SWISS MADE" signed Felsa 4007N automatic movement with quickset date function is in beautiful condition.  This watch currently keeps accurate time with approximately 34 hours of power reserve after recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions.  The date rolls over automatically at 12 am as it should and the crown winds smoothly.  The quickset date function works flawlessly by moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached.  Although this watch currently keeps near perfect time, considering that it is over 50 years old and has likely never been serviced (no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back), a complete overhaul is suggested.

The case measures approximately 38 mm without the crown, approximately 42.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs.  The case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm.  When taking into account the crystal the thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm.  A black canvas strap comes on the watch.

Although this watch currently performs flawlessly, given that it is over 50 years old and has likely never been serviced, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  If this watch is bought with the intent to wear, it would be prudent to have it undergo a full service.  At the very least I would suggest having the watch pressure tested before diving/swimming/exposing it to water.  Any servicing costs are your responsibility.
