Royal Mint GB & Northern Ireland proof coin year sets , the years range from 1970 to 1982 , each set contains the UK coins minted for that year . Just choose the year from the menu above , then click through the images for each set . All of the sets come housed in a plastic slab , complete with the outer card sleeve . The 1970 , 80 , 81 & 82 sets come with a C.O.A./ info leaflet . ~ The coin values range from the 50pence down to the halfpenny . The 1972 & 1977 sets also have an impressive commemorative proof crown , the 1972 crown celebrates Princess Anne's Royal wedding , the 1977 crown celebrates the Queen's Silver Jubilee . The 1982 set houses the UK's first 20pence coin . The 1970 set houses the UK's last mintage of pre-decimal coins . ~ Proof coins are minted using highly polished blanks & dies , this gives a superbly detailed mirror-like finish , they have a flawless surface , superior to the normal circulation coinage . All of the sets are in good condition . Some of the coins may have a little toning , this is normal for this type of year set .
