For sale is a hand signed and inscribed photograph of US Vice President and 1925 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Charles Gates Hawes. Hawes was an interesting historical figure... a vice president who frequently clashed with the President and a Nobel Peace Prize winner for constructing a plan to help rebuild Germany after WWI. The plan was eventually rejected in favor of one which forced Germany to pay massive reparations, creating a toxic, economic crisis which helped nurtured the appeal of Hitler and the Nazi Party. It has long been the speculation of historians as to what might have happened had Hawes' plan been adopted. Photograph is inscribed to Frederic William Wile, a prominent journalist and news figures in the 1910s and 1920s. It is dated 1925. There is a little silver mirroring in the photograph, but condition is otherwise very good, while the signature is nice, strong and bold. Shipping $13 for non-US destinations, to be shipped without frame.
