This is my 1975 ex-French Foreign Legion 4-seater Mehari, which I have owned for 9 years.  It has 12 months' MOT and 5 1/2 months' tax.

The chassis is a solid original-spec one, which we fitted 4 years ago.  The chassis does have a couple of small welding repairs on its bottom plate, but these were done when the chassis was off the car, and overall it is in very good order.  The space frame was rebuilt by the previous owner, and is also totally sound.  A new clutch was fitted at the same time as the chassis.

The body it has a workman-like charm - it is a used utility vehicle and it wears its scars with pride.  All of the ABS panels are faded, and most of them have some typical Mehari cracks.  There is some damage to the passenger side side panel, as photographed.  This was caused by a minor accident some years ago, the impact of which also pushed the front space frame over slightly on its mountings, but did not bend the space frame itself or damage the body tub or chassis.  Due to the damage being superficial I decided not to repair it, and have continued to drive it around for several years without problems.  However, I do have a spare side panel, which can be supplied with the car if desired.  I also have a spare bonnet (the original), which can be seen in the last picture, and can be supplied with the car.

The weather gear is all in good order, and the side/rear screens were replaced with new items from Mehari Cote d'Azur a few years ago.

Mechanically, this Mehari is in great shape.  The engine and gearbox are both sweet, and have proven to be 100% reliable.  The car has front disc brakes, and a 123 electronic ignition is fitted.  All servicing has been kept up-to-date, and I have undertaken several long-distance continental trips in this Mehari, without problems.  The speedometer shows 29808 kilometres.  However, I wouldn't judge this to be in any way accurate.  At a guess, I would say it has probably done somewhere in the region of 80-100,000 miles.

Extras fitted to the car include a Kenwood stereo/cassette (which can almost be heard when on the move...), a cigarette lighter, and a battery cut-off switch to improve security.

Overall, although it's not the prettiest of Meharis, it is one that you can jump in and go, drives brilliantly, and I doubt would have any problems taking you countless thousands of miles.  Of course, if you wish to make it look smarter, it is a good base for doing so.
