(1976-?)
The Beomaster 6000 Commander was available as an accessory for the Beomaster 6000 4 channel, and was the first uncorded remote control unit for a B&O audio product. Not all Beomaster 6000 sets were fitted with the necessary receiver, so in some cases this fairly sizable and complex unit had also to be fitted.
The 6000 Commander gave access to the sound control and programme selection functions of the Beomaster, and was particularly useful for adjusting the balance of the quadraphonic sound whilst the user was in the listening position. Unlike later systems however, the influence of the control did not extend outside the Beomaster, so functions such as the starting and stopping of record players and tape recorders still had to be performed manually.
Similar casework and technology were employed as were used in the Beovision 6000 remote control. Ultrasonic sound was used as the communication medium, and by the use of mixed tones, more reliable operation than was usual for this technique was obtained. This process used quite a lot of power, so a special 15V battery was needed. The keys were formed in the same way as those of the Beomaster, so the styling matched perfectly.
new link to video of remote working with my Beomaster 6000 4 channel - ( beomaster will be sold also if you are interested contact me. its in good shape barring a few blown bulbs/lamps on the top panel and pre-set 2 does't do waht it should.
