Use an external power supply to provide 9-volts to your Electro Harmonix or Proco Rat pedals (if fitted with 1/8-inch external dc jack socket).  

 

This 300mm cable, fitted with a 2.1mm dc plug and a 1/8-inch (3.5mm) jack, allows you to connect your pedal to a 9-volt multi-output power supply (brick) with the correct polarity.
