Offered here is spectacular 0.36 gram slice of the very rare, newly classified NWA 7493 Lunar Feldspathic Breccia.  This beautiful meteorite was found in July 2011 in Morocco and has a known total recovered weight of only 503 grams.  This is an unpaired, beautiful, fragment of lunar breccia that is composed primarily of quenched melt clasts and calcic plagioclase grains occurring in a wide range of grain sizes.  This lunar's matrix exhibits a brecciated texture dominated by medium gray, tan and white lithic clasts plus white feldspar grains all set within the meteorite's darker gray matrix. This slice has one highly polished face and the reverse surface retains some of the meteorite's crust with only a light polish to its sawn surface.

This 0.36 gram slice is part of only 503 grams recovered.  There is little of this moon rock available to institutions and collectors.  The Lunar pictured here measures approximately 15mm x 8mm at highest point x 2mm and is believed to have been ejected from the moon's crust after a large impact event.  A display case is provided with purchase.
