Next piece of the collection to go. I LOVE this guitar and am torn about selling it, but I've just got to slim down the herd!
These are actually pretty rare. I've never seen one with a white pickguard either.
It was made in the 60's in Italy and it was made quite well!
The tone is FANTASTIC! Kind of like a Gibson ES-225 (one of my favorite guitars ever).
Sounds great acoustically as well.
Action is set up nicely for versatile playing and is almost perfectly intoned up and down the neck.
Currently has D'Adderio Half-Round 11-49's (cool strings if you've never tried 'em)
Comes with its original chipboard case which is in good condition.
NECK:
- Bolt on 3 piece Maple with Mahogany strip
- Rosewood (Looks like Brazilian) Fingerboard with big white Dot position markers
- Truss rod (I've never needed to use it...)
- very minimal fret wear
- Nut width: 1 5/8"
- Scale Length: 24 3/4"
- Profile similar to a Gibson. Nice and round without being too big.
- Tuners are accurate and hold tune well. Probably 12:1 ratio.
- 21 total frets
-Single Vol / Tone controls
-Bridge is Rosewood and hight adjustable
Guitar is nice and light at 6 lbs.
Measures: 39 1/2" total
Lower bout: 15 3/8"
Upper bout: 11"
CONDITION:
- As can be seen in the photos, there are "splits" in the outer veneer throughout the body. Every other HG10 I can find online has these same things...
- These are aesthetic issues and do not go through the wood. They are sort of "puckered up" ridges.
- There are 2 big ones on the back which run the length of the body and 2 smaller ones.
- The sides both have 2 as well. The top has one smaller one.
- There is a nice chunk on the top at the lower bout where some previous owner did a rock-and-roll move involving a drumset... maybe.
- D string tuner shaft is a little bent but tunes just fine.
- The tailpiece seems to have been "buffed" and has a matte finish... ok THAT one was me :)
