Using the lens
You'll be taking pictures 30 seconds after delivery.
The upgraded Canon EF 35-80 lens arrives fully working with high magnification and full autofocus, front and rear lens caps, and a new UV filter to protect it.
This specialist macro lens is to capture microscopic detail of small subjects less than 4.5 cm (1¾") across. If the object is too large, you won't be able to fit all of it in to a single picture.
Just like Canon's pro MP-E 65mm macro lens it doesn't focus to infinity, so it can't be used for general photography: it's only for close-ups within 11cm (4⅓″) of the front of the lens.

Full frame: just put the lens on any Canon EOS camera capable of using EF lenses.
Made in Japan. Contains only Canon Japanese glass with full spectra coatings. The simplest solution with nothing sticking out of the lens, no bolt-ons, adaptors, bellows, extension rings, extra screw on bits of inferior glass, contraptions to put it on backwards, or any of that gubbins.
It works like any other Canon lens and you can use additional standard filters/dioptres, lens hoods, etc. Bright view finder, fully automatic iris control and functional zoom. Interfaces fully with your camera circuits, because it's built from an original Canon lens!
Each original EF 35-80mm Canon lens is taken apart, carefully inspected & cleaned. After being put through a 22 point quality check, it’s rebuilt with different optical elements from another Canon lens to make it suitable for macro work.
The new lens is finished off with an anodised metal bezel for increased ruggedness and the whole assembly recalibrated and tested.
The lens is fully set up and works on all Canon EOS cameras capable of taking an EF lens, film and digital.
Better value than any unmodified Canon macro lenses and you get similar magnifications (Canon make only 6 true 1:1 macro lenses - price ranges from £450-£1600 ($700-$2500 USD) PHEW!).
Does not require an adaptor to get true 1:1 or better than life size macro!
No need for manual mode but everything behaves as it should when you do want the flexibility. Fully automatic on the camera: exposure and the aperture of the lens, operation of flash, etc. work properly in all modes (even on full manual). You don't need to be a photo-genius to get good results, you can leave it on auto!

2 Magnification Ranges
The upgraded Canon EF 35-80 lens is ready to use out of the box with 0.4x-0.9x magnification.
The front of the lens is a bayonet fit, allowing addition or removal of the push-fit glass element as often as you like (tool-free or using a paperclip if you've no nails).
Change the properties of the lens and convert between high and extreme magnifications in less than 30 seconds.
High
(0.4x-0.9x life-size)
With the front lens inserted, the lens has 0.4x-0.9x magnification across the 35-80mm zoom range and working distance is 11cm (4⅓″) from the end of the lens.
Extreme
(0.7x-1.8x life-size)
With the front lens removed, the lens has 0.7x-1.8x extreme magnification and the working distance is 4.5cm (1¾″) from the end of the lens.
You can photograph an object from 2.5cm-4.5cm (1″- 1¾″) across.
The object can be 1.2cm-2.7cm (½″ - 1″) across.

Between 0.4x magnification to 0.9x magnification you get full autofocus, and with the 0.7-1.8x extreme magnification manual focusing is by moving the lens closer or further from the subject using focus confirm.
With max magnification just line up the shot and the autoconfirm sensor beeps and the red lights on your camera viewfinder blink when you're sharp. Snap: an amazing picture of the micro-world!

This is a full EF lens (not the cropped EF-S type), so when you upgrade your camera in the future to a full frame model, then this lens will still work great! Feel free to ask if it will work on your camera if you're not sure.
