WW2 Springfield/Garand M1942 bayonet with 16 inch (405mm) blade. Marked "PAL" and dated 1942 (partly visible under crossguard). The bayonet is in excellent condition with some age patina and speckaling to the blade. Most of these bayonets were later arsenal cut down when the shorter M1 Garand bayonet came into service. Also comes with the RARE Detroit Gasket Company scabbard with the "lazy "S" logo (actually is a sideways "D" over "G" in reverse) beneath the "US" bomb burst on the scabbard throat. As with Detroit Gasket scabbards the material that they were made from meant that the paint did not adhere very well and soon started to come off. See photos for further main description.
