A beautiful antique solid wood Tibetan vanity case. This highly decorative red painted case has carved gold gilded panels on all sides except the back. Opening up to reveal a mirror behind 2 carved panels, the front doors open to reveal 2 small top drawers and 1 large lower drawer. All drawers are the full length of the box. There are 2 hand carved dogs of fo sitting on a little carved wall that the mirror rests safely against. This vanity case has 2 brass carry handles and butterfly hinges. This is a very intricate, stunning piece of Tibetan history.

DATE: Circa 1840

DIMENSIONS:  16" long,  11.5" wide,  11" high when closed,  opening up to 20" high.

CONDITION: This Tibetan vanity case is in very good condition, the outside paintwork is rustic and worn in places. There is a crack through the top paintwork where the planks used have moved apart over the years. There is also wear to some of the gold gilding but given the age this vanity case has worn very well. There would have been a pin lock to slide through the door clasps but this is no longer present. Please see pictures.
