~ In EXCELLENT condition for age! Exquisite condition for age. Museum quality display. 132 years old! Some wear with age as scratches, gold rubs to rim, paint rubs. Absolutely amazing, breathtaking condition. Inlaid gold fish have a two-tone design. Gold may have some discoloration with age. Colors vibrant, clean. No cracks, crazing, chips, fleabites, or repairs observed. White spots flash from camera. Natural imperfections as a hand-painted object with brushstrokes seen and artist imperfections which may include small paint misses, ceramic imperfections as bumpy rim. Total of 6 plates available in our store, each with different designs by same artist. A marvelous, rare find. The gold fish are so unique to the design. They are not simply flat gilt painted. The gold is thickly applied layered, incised details & textured appearing as inlaid gold fish. Beautiful intricate relief gold fish design. Unusual decoration and technique for a cabinet plate as this. Spectacular plate & display in person. English porcelain by Pointon & Co. Pointon & Co operated in Norfolk, Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire from 1883-1916. This plate marked with early Pointon mark and dates this plate circa 1883-1891, England (see marking & description below). High-end merchant Collamore, NY, a fine, fancy china merchant who catered to wealthy socialites of the day and Tiffany & Co's rival often had works commissioned from Pointon. This may have been a special commissioned work, but no Collamore mark shown.
