Meat or 'pink' lighting is used by butchers and other meat retailers.
Historically, this was achieved with 'Pink' colour fluorescent tubes. But now you can get the energy saving benefits of LED lighting for this specialist lighting application.
If you used regular LED tubes on meat display cabinets it may result in meat appearing 'grey' in colour. Butcher's pink LED lighting, on the other hand, has a lower colour temperature, higher colour rendition index and pink tinge to the light.
Installing LED tubes in refrigeration units also gets you a double whammy in energy savings:
Magnetic ballast fittings. These are the most common fitting type. Simply replace the tube and starter (supplied) and you're done! Magnetic ballast fittings are identifiable by the fact they have starters present.
Electronic ballast fittings - These units will require an electrician to 'wire out' the existing ballast. Fittings without starters that come on instantly are generally electronic ballast.
