Art Deco Silver Gem Set Match / Cigarette Case

Attractive and unusual silver case from around the 1920s / 30s. It has engine turning back and front, with tooled floral decoration at the corners. There is a blank oval for engraving which has been lightly scratched with initials - proper engraving would obliterate this. It has a gilt interior and is set with a garnet coloured cabochon which shows through the clasp. I'm not sure if this is is for small cigarettes, large matches, or perhaps toothpicks. It measures 6cm by 4.3cm by 7mm deep and is in good order apart from a minor dint on the back, which could be dealt with. It is stamped Sterling.
