Description: A very nice period painting of a classic Victorian theme. Peacock perched on carved railing overlooking landscape. Gorgeous gilded gilt carved gesso on wood frame in exceptionally good condition. See photos for details. No glass. All original. The perfect accessory for any Victorian room. Painting is signed and dated in lower left corner. There is a piece of brown paper stuck under the frame by the signature and one higher up. It is not an area of missing paint as the paper is on top of the painted surface. See Condition report for details.
Size: Outer dimensions: 12" x 17" Inside dimensions of frame approximately 7.5' x 12.5"
Condition: Frame is in excellent condition. Painting is in very good condition. We did not remove the backing but the painting is on a hard surface. There are two pieces of paper on front of the painting that look like they are stuck on front - the areas are shown in the photos. They are above the surface of the paint. There are also a few drop of what we think may be dried clear varnish on the top left of painting. They are only visible when viewed from a certain angle and lighting. We tried to show them in the photos also. No tears or missing paint that we could tell. Few signs of age with no flaking that we could see.
