DBX has long been known as a leader in signal processing technology, and compressors and mic preamps have always been a strong part of that reputation. In keeping with that tradition, dbx shows a new entry into the "Silver Series" lineup with the 576 Vacuum Tube Preamp/Compressor.

The 576 offers an extremely extensive list of amenities, including custom-designed analog VU meters that monitor tube level, insert path (or gain reduction, in the case of the compressor) or output levels. The preamp is equipped with +48V Phantom Power, a 20dB pad, phase invert and low cut filter.

The compressor side has full sidechain functionality, including sidechain monitor, and dbx's unique Contour function, which allows low frequency material to pass through the threshold without triggering unmusical compression effects.

Also included are the dbx OverEasy(R) threshold characteristics, and Auto attack and release. Line/instrument and mic inputs make the 576 versatile enough to use with virtually any source device.

Added to this already impressive list of standard features are many notable extras, such as a three-band EQ with sweepable mid and selectable mid Q (with EQ hardwire bypass) on the preamp, available insert loop, the ability to send the preamp signal directly to the compressor and the new patent-pending PeakPIus^TM limiting topology.
