One Owner Thorens TD-124 Complete With Original SME 3012 TonearmAs a kid I marveled at this turntable from afar. The Thorens was strictly off limits, reserved for playing the likes of Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman ... not to be touched by anyone other than my old man. As my dad got older and lost much of his hearing the Thorens and other hi-fi equipment went into dry storage. So for about 20 years that's where this unit sat until his passing two years ago at the age of 96.
Since then I replaced the mushroom dampers, SME tonearm coupling rubbers (see pics of old parts) and tonearm bed plate grommets in preparation to put it back into service but realized that my hi-fi days are behind me. So, after much thought I've decided to let it go to a new home.
The turntable, and the SME tonearm, is all original ... no mods or other tweaking at all. It is very clean and free from damage. The motor runs. All speeds function as they should. The heavy platter spins freely. That said, this should be fully serviced ... lubed, belt replaced etc. before use. I am including the original Sure Super Track Plus stylus / needle ... its broken but perhaps can be repaired?
