I've had a lot of fun learning about this flute.

The serial numbers are difficult to pin down, but based on the known/believed age of flutes I found with serial numbers on either side of this one (H-1792), I would say that it was made in the mid to late sixties.

Apparently, at this time, Tom Green and Jack Moore were at Armstrong, and the flutes they made are something special.

This is a professional flute and appears to be a fairly rare find.

I found quite a few on various flute websites, that were already privately sold, in the $2,000 range. This one needs to be repadded, a few dents need to be repaired on the headjoint, and where the body meets the foot, it is slightly out of round. The estimate to sort all that out was $300, but there is a backlog at the music shop, and I am waiting to hear back from a flute specialist in Austin.

Once the flute has been reconditioned, I will be listing it for $1,900. Until then, it's here for almost half price, for anyone who understands the value of this instrument and is familiar with the repairs I mentioned. I don't expect any ol' body to buy a dented flute for $1,100, when there are other Armstrong Heritages on here for less, but someone else may know why THIS flute is not like those flutes, and save $500 on a true classic.

The case is in decent shape, with nicks and scratches. The velvet is nice, and the hinges and latches are working well. But, you're not buying this for the case, are you?

There's still time to get this under the tree!
