Antique Georgian Nailsea Serving Bottle or Decanter Cobalt Blue Looped White Trails circa 1820

Description

Here we have a superb antique cobalt or Bristol blue Nailsea decanter or serving bottle, with trailed white decoration, dating from the Georgian period, around 1800 - 1820.

It  has a very elegant bottle shape, typical of the period, and has a most attractive white trailed decoration looping around the body of the decanter. There is an opaque white trail around the neck rim and a plain blue stopper that may be an addition or replacement.

The decanter has a rough or snapped off pontil and quite a lot of wear to the base as you would expect to see with an item of glass dating from this period.

The decanter stands 11 7/8ths inches high, including the stopper, and has a base diameter of 3 inches. It weighs 515g unpacked.

There is a chip at the neck rim - see photos - but this is a still a great display piece and would make a great addition to any collection of Nailsea, Bristol or early 19th century English glassware.

Please take a look at my other antique items listed for sale this week - including more glassware.
