Clean 1978 (N8) Bulova Caravelle Automatic
Dual Date Set-O-Matic

NOS Leather Band

Another Jewel from my personal collection, this Caravelle by Bulova is marked 4 times - Face, Movement, Back and Crown. The crown sports the Bulova tuning fork as seen. The stainless back still sports the original paper sticker as seen. That is testimony that this watch didn't see much wrist time.

Watch has a higher grade 21,600 BPH 17 jewel automatic movement that operates as it should. Day and date change instantly at midnight with an audible click.

Prior to listing I gave watch a ride on my automatic winder, and after approx. 14 hrs. run time, it appears to be off less than 10 seconds.

Extremely well preserved with nearly perfect face and hands. Face has a light line on it in an arc from the 6 to the 7. In as long as I owned the watch, I never noticed this until I really scrutinized condition to list it.

Crystal is visually perfect to the naked eye. Under 10x magnification it has some tiny and light imperfections. Case shows very slight plating wear on high points under magnification and case has a few light scratches; the worst of which are pictured above. They are not noticeable on the wrist, as they are on the side of the lug at the 7 dial position.

Band is a new old stock replacement of dark brown padded leather with a gold buckle. Original band was too stiff to wear from age.

Two position crown - One click out sets day or date rotating one way or the other. Two clicks out smoothly sets time.

A classic 1970's beauty in well above average unmolested original condition, with the exception of the replacement band.

As a collector who buys off eBay, I know the disappointment of buying a watch described as better than it really is. For this reason, watches we sell are run tested for at least 24 hrs and examined with an eye loupe. A mechanical watch can't be monitored for 10 minutes and declared as "runs great". Presumed accuracy over such a short time can be a loss or gain of 10 minutes over a 24 hr period. To me, an accurate vintage watch loses or gains 30 seconds or less in a full day. I see no personal issue with adjusting the time slightly every couple of days at winding time. We are sometimes overly critical - if I can see it, it gets called out.

This is a used vintage time piece that I do not know the service history of. I do not imply nor guarantee long term accuracy, water resistance or continued operation. Watch is 38 years old and spent most of it's life in a dresser drawer. I would grade this watch a solid 9+ out of 10. A professional evaluation and service is recommended for daily wear and peak performance.
