H.E. Harris folder holds Native American Dollars starting 2009 along with history on the inside flap. This is a tri-fold folder that opens flat for all at once viewing with a total of 48 openings (12 openings have dates with P or D and 36 openings are blank), then closes to book size for easy storage. All H.E. Harris folders are made of acid-free materials for the protection and storage of your coins.

The holes in this folder have a special LOCK-IN feature. But first, a word of caution: always hold a coin by the edge and never touch its obverse or reverse. We recommend you wear gloves when pressing your coins into place. Now that you are ready, simply place the coin with one edge tipped into the hole, and then press the high edge downward and toward the lowered edge (slantwise). Feel the snap? It's locked in!

The United States Dollar Coin Act of 1997 required the Treasury Department to replace the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin with one more distinct from the quarter dollar. The new dollar coin design, golden in color, was selected by Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin based on the recommendation of the Dollar Coin Design Advisory Committee.

The dollar coin's obverse was designed by Glenna Good-acre. It depicts Sacagawea, a young Shoshone woman. Sacagawea carries her infant son, Jean Baptiste, on her back. She carried and cared for him on her entire 3,000-mile portion of the expedition with Lewis and Clark from 1804 to 1806. The original reverse was done by Thomas D. Rogers Sr. It presents a soaring American bald eagle encircled by 17 stars, symbolizing the states of the union at the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1804.

Change came in 2009, when the Native American $1 Coin Act took effect. While the Sacagawea design remains on the obverse, the reverse will change each year to a design that honors the important contributions that Native American tribes and individuals have made in U.S. history. E PLURIBUS UNUM, the year, and the mint mark all moved to the edge. The law requires that at least 20% of the total mintage of dollar coins (including Presidential dollars) in any given year are Native American dollars.
