Thank you for looking at my auction -- for all international orders / bidders -- I now have to send everything in a manner that is trackable. I had a recent issue with tracking with a package that went to China and so almost everything needs to go USPS Priority - especially if you are in Asia or South America. I am sorry for the bump up of postage so please check postage cost just so you can see what to expect. I do not make any money on shipping so it should be pretty exact. Thanks and good luck!

This auction is for one very large group of newspaper comic strip proofs for the daily titled The Connoisseur which ran in papers from August 29 1927 until December 8 1928. These are proofs that were sent to the artist - they are not original drawings. The strip features Mr. Van Der View who has an obsession with clothes and fashion - especially ladies fashion. The strips would have verse below each panel. The work has been attributed to Alex Kurfiss who was one of the first artists hired by Walt Disney at Laugh-O-Gram and did the earliest posters for Walt Disney. Reference to his work can be found in the book Walt Before Mickey: Disney's Early Years, 1919-1928. I have been unable to confirm that it was Kurfiss but one of the side edges has V. Kurfiss written in blue pencil. The strip was distributed by The Standard Publishing Company - out of Chicago Illinois?

I have pictured the large lot and many are stapled to left side in week groups - they look overall very clean and bright but with staples rusted and / or oxidized but only affecting that area to left margin. There are roughly 150 and each measures 12 by 7 inches. A great archive of the majority of the strip I think. Each as a number sequence and run date at top with the Standard Publishing Company name and address 222 East Superior St. Chicago Illinois. Some have light edge wear and signs of handling but overall the lot is quite clean. So these are all pre-depression 1927 to 1928 daily proofs -- 100% original -- of odd lyrical, art deco fashion poetry dailies. I wish I could relay more info but that is about all I know. If you have any questions just let me know.
