This beautiful brooch is set with Abalone (pawa) shell and I'm not entirely sure if the shaping like a peacock is a natural feature (I have never come across this before in abalone) or carved. Whichever way the end result is very lovely! The colouring is particularly good and the shaping and picking out of the colours looks like a peacock making me think it has been carved this way.

It is set in Sterling Silver which is marked SSIL. It measures 1.1 inches. It is in very good condition, but please notice that there is possibly a bit of shell missing on the far left hand side.
