The UCOS team have a new boss, DAC Robert Strickland, who ask them to investigate the death of a famous barrister found trussed up in his car 20 years earlier. A now retired and much respected detective famous for always getting his man didn't get a result, so can the team succeed where he failed? Pullman digs for dirt and discovers from an old call girl that the barrister had very odd sexual penchant. Meanwhile, Gerry and Brian clash when they suspect the members of UCOS are paid by how superior their ranks within the force are. When an ex-con, who has since found religion, owns up to several race attacks he committed many years ago, UCOS take to the streets of Southall to try and track down the attacker of a young Asian woman, Shivani Das, left lying in a coma after a vicious beating. Young Asian officer Pushkar Guha is drafted in to help out, and forms an unlikely alliance with Gerry. Whilst Brian chases a private detective for information and Jack tries to help a desperate husband, Pullman uncovers secrets within two families, which leave the team with a handful of people who wanted rid of Shivani. But just when the team think they have a result, a gruesome discovery is made, leaving UCOS with, potentially, two murder cases.
