USB to Serial cable for Horizon & BirDog satellite meters

Length approx 1.7m/5ft 6ins (if required, you can add a USB extension cable up to a total of 5m long).

This handy cable allows you to program your satellite meter from your computer. Add new satellite profiles and update existing ones.

One end of the cable has an RJ45 (8 pin) plug which connects to the meter. The other end has a USB plug which connects to the PC's USB port. The cable contains a USB to serial converter, so the meter appears as a COM port on the PC.

This cable is effectively the same as using the serial RS232 cable for your meter with a USB to serial converter, except of course it is a lot neater and more convenient.

Avoids driver problems often encountered with cheaper Prolific PL2303 cables, instead using the much better supported SiLabs CP2102 chipset and is guaranteed to work with the following operating systems:

32 and 64 bit operating systems are both supported.

Please check that this is the correct cable for your meter before purchase. This cable is suitable for older (non-USB equipped) meters with an 8 pin RJ45 serial port connector, for example Horizon model HDSM V2.50, HDTM, BirDog model 2.5 and others. The cable is similar to this circuit from the Horizon web site, as if it were being used with a USB to serial converter.
