This necklace was given to me by a friend who had once had a bead store. She had saved back some of her best and favorite items and she gave me this beautiful necklace. The main amber colored bead is copal and is 25mm x 25mm. The test for that says it should be soft and able to be scratched (inside the drilled hole). It was soft inside. (Copal is defined as "younger" amber on a few sites I checked out). I tested all the amber colored beads and the two flatter oval beads float in salt water, so that is the test that tells you they are natural amber. They each measure 14mm high and 25mm wide. The two oblong ones are maybe copal, maybe plastic but I can't tell. They seemed harder than the large squared bead. They measure 32mm x 20mm each. There are two tribal silver beads I don't know where from. Four green African Trade Beads (millefiori type). Two tiny chevron African trade beads in blue. A tall rust trade bead at the bottom. Two more modern clear amber colored glass beads with little Venetian style black & white swirls. Two shiny blue unknown to me smaller beads. Two shaped carnelian beads. Two dark brown ceramic beads at the top. And 12 small silver colored glass spacers. A great necklace or great beads for a different mix....Your choice!
