Very impressive 2 piece woodblock print with the dynamic depiction of two actors in the Edo era. You can really feel Kunisada's meticulous work in every stunning detail. This is an excellent piece of historic Japanese artwork from Kunisada Gototei.
Gototei Kunisada also known as Utagawa Kunisada or Utagawa Toyokuni III (1786 - 1865) was the most popular, prolific and financially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th century Japan. In his own time, his reputation far exceeded that of his contemporaries, Hokusai, Hiroshige and Kuniyoshi.
Please take your time and enjoy this piece of fine Japanese art.
