This listing is for a Brand New High Quality Open Toe Stippling Free Motion Sewing Quilting Presser Foot with spring action for Groups (5) and (6) Husqvarna Viking sewing machines. The open toe of this foot provides greater visibility when free motion stitching.

This foot is used for any Free Motion sewing.
The Free Motion Sewing Feet allow you to sew in any direction e.g., forward, backward, and sideways. Free Motion means you must move the fabric because the feed teeth are down. Free Motion Quilting and Free Motion Embroidery are made possible with this foot. You should hoop your fabric with stabilizer for Free Motion Embroidery. A hoop or stabilizer is not required for Free Motion Quilting.
Spring Action vs. Floating
A Floating free motion foot will be positioned just above your fabric to allow the fabric to move freely as you machine quilt or embroider. This type of foot is fine for flat and smooth fabrics and embroideries. It does not work as well on fluffy fabrics such as quilts, tightly woven fabrics like Micro fibers and heavy embroideries. You may experience skipped or broken stitches. In that case, use a Spring Action type foot. The Spring Action foot like the one I am selling here can be used for Free Motion sewing or Embroidery. This type of foot will hop up and down as the machine stitches. As the needle enters the fabric, the foot pushes the fabric against the throat plate as the stitch is made. As the needle goes up, the foot lifts up enabling the fabric to move. This helps prevent skipped stitches and broken threads. It is recommended to use the spring type foot when Free Motion stitching on tightly woven fabrics such as Micro fibers and Batiks. You will find that a spring action foot is the most common foot used for embroidery and free motion sewing.”
