Although originally designed as an automotive navigation system this would be a great COLOR GPS system for all marine users at a fraction of the cost of other chart plotters.  It will get you safely back to port as you follow your exact path back as laid down by your track log.

You can also mark waypoints and navigate to them! The GPS will show your speed, distance to go and time to go as you travel to them with the arrow pointer showing you the way.

I have had may questions about this GPS reading Garmin BlueChart data cards.  Please see the 2 close up screen shots below proving that this model reads BlueChart data cards and extreme mapping detail you can add if you choose to purchase BlueChart for your area. You will still have maps without any card but not the markers, depth and extreme detail shown below.

THIS GPS IS WATERPROOF.  GARMIN SPECS REQUIRE IT MEET STANDARD 529 IXP7.  IT CAN WITHSTAND IMMERSION IN 1 METER OF WATER FOR 30 MINUTES. THIS MAKES IT A GREAT CHOICE FOR YOUR BOAT, ATV, SNOW MACHINE IN ADDITION TO YOUR CAR
